THE SPEAKEASY

BLOG

A PLACE TO SPEAK FREELY

The Bill Walton Show is recorded in a customized studio in suburban Washington DC.

We call the set “The SpeakEasy” because that’s a part of its history. Legend has it that this ground-level room served as an illegal saloon or “Speakeasy” during Prohibition between 1920 and 1933.

Today, both the studio and The Bill Walton Show serves as a place that where people feel safe to speak freely. While maybe not the original, precise definition of the word, it speaks clearly about our mission.

We proudly embrace the room’s history and the double meaning we’ve given it. We’ve also decided that our Blog should carry the same name.

Welcome to the SpeakEasy Blog!
